Wakefield Motel owner was Susan Kang. She took over Wake Field Motel in June of 2003. Unfortunately Hurricane Isabel hit Colonial Beach, Virginia on September 24, 2003 and wipe out Wake Field Motel and all its surroundings, especially the fishing pier that sits in front of the motel. Devastated by the storm Susan worked hard to rebuild the motel and the pier and through her dedication the motel preserved and was rebuilt. Today, the motel stands beautifully; completely remodeled after the storm. The motel was rebuilt with 21 new units mostly equipped with kitchenettes. In March 2010 Ms. Kang passed away. Wakefield Motel now stands in rememberance of her. May she rest in peace.
